You should carry a notebook around

I had an old habit that I started doing again today. I used to carry a notebook with me everywhere. I wrote down any ideas, to-dos, action items, and comments on it. I guess I really needed it, because I filled out 4 pages in just a few hours. I got a lot of wonderful ideas on how to improve PainlessSVN.

The main reason I restarted this habit was The Micropreneur Academy. One of the topics I read today, talked about this exact same topic. I was so moved to get a notebook right then, that I just got up from my work desk (my day job) and went straight to Staples. I got me a couple nice journal style notebooks. These have a single satin thread to mark your place. The cover on these is fake leather, but it almost feels real. Anyways, just get something that will make you want to have it in your hands. Also get a pen that is comfortable in your hands. I’m using a couple of those fat pens with a soft rubber grip. Those are easier to write with than the regular slim bics and other assorted pens.

WordPress and Flash (Camtasia). Oh My!

I spent around 3 hours looking for a way to get a flash movie on this site. I finally got this working with the Kimili WordPress plug-in, and this site: http://www.webreference.com/video/column11/2.html I am using Camtasia version 3, which is pretty old. I got this version free, and I really wanted to make it work. You have to follow the instructions exactly as the guy is doing in that site. His instructions worked beautifully. You can see the result in the “Getting Started” movie on the home page.

I’m extremely happy with the results!

PainlessSVN is moving here

I decided to move PainlessSVN to its own website, as I’m having a hard time optimizing SEO when it is mixed in with SystemWidgets’ website. SystemWidgets just has too much stuff there to be able to optimize this for PainlessSVN. So what brought this on? I became a member of the Micropreneur Academy. There’s a mountain of useful information over there. It is a pay website, but it is well worth it. I’ve already discovered a lot of things about sites that sell.

I’m hoping that this move will help PainlessSVN grow both in features, and in it being a known product.
